5 things a bride doesn’t want you to do on her wedding day…

As a bride, your wedding day is supposed to be one of the happiest days of your life. You've spent months (or even years) planning every detail, and all you want is for everything to go smoothly. However, no matter how well you plan, there are always a few guests who don’t get the memo. Here are five things a bride doesn't want guests to do on her wedding day…

Show up late

Buy a watch or set three alarms if you have to, but whatever you do, don’t turn up late to the ceremony. Imagine being the one to burst through the doors and awkwardly take your seat while everyone stares at you! As a guest, the ceremony build-up is one of my favourite parts of the entire day. You get to take in the excitement, be serenaded by some gorgeous music and have a nosey around the venue. Only the bride can be late to her wedding!

Take photos/videos during the ceremony

It's understandable that you’ll want to capture every moment of the big day, but flash photography during the ceremony can be distracting and disrupt the beauty of the occasion. Plus, that’s exactly what the photographer and videographer are there to do. Switch phones off, relax and soak up all the love in the room.

Get too drunk

It’s exciting and often all too easy to let your hair down at a wedding, (especially if it’s a free bar), but you don’t want to be the drunkest person on that dancefloor. Getting sloppy drunk and causing a scene is a big no-no. The bride and groom want to look back on their special day with fond memories, not cry at the thought of your drunken antics. So have a few drinks, but remember to pace yourself. Keep the focus on the lovebirds and their special day.

Hold a conversation with her for far too long

It's common for guests to want to speak with the bride and groom on their wedding day, but don’t go on and on about how you cheekily helped yourself to a million canapés. I always advise the happy couple to politely excuse themselves from a conversation if it's going on for too long. A simple "thank you so much for coming" followed by an excuse to leave can go a long way in allowing you to enjoy your day.

Post photos or details about the wedding on social media, without permission from the couple!

This one is pretty self-explanatory. Leave the Instragramming to another day.
